FINEMAC Hardenable Watch Steel Bars
Finemac is available as bars/rods from stock. It is a next-generation watchmaking material. Unlike powder-metallurgically produced steels (LAW 100 X), this steel is conventionally manufactured. This lead-free steel type responds to the increasing demand in the watchmaking industry.
Properties of the Hardenable Watch Steel Finemac
Due to the fine metallurgical structure of Finemac, the addition of lead could be omitted. Therefore, this watchmaking material meets today’s environmental standards. Its final hardness is comparable to the qualities of LAW 100 X, LAW 100Pb, and 20 AP, and its machinability is similar to that of an unalloyed tool steel (silver steel). It offers excellent wear resistance.
Thanks to its fine grain structure, the low-distortion Finemac enables the efficient production of small precision parts that require high productivity and polishability. If the machinery allows, high spindle speeds are recommended to achieve better results.
Applications of Finemac
Finemac is primarily used for the production of fine precision parts and instruments. Due to its low wear, it is ideally suited for components that are constantly in motion, making it highly qualified for use in the watchmaking industry. Watch parts such as gears, pinions, axles, bridges, and plates are manufactured from this material.
